Ilhan Omar Attacks Iranian Journalist Who Criticized Soleimani
According to Iranian journalist and author Masih Alinejad, far-left Rep. Ilhan Omar has been smearing her for her position on the death of Iranian terrorist Qassem Soleimani.
Alinejad recently wrote an op-ed in the Washington Post where she criticized Soleimani while claiming that there are a large amount of Iranians who saw him as a war criminal. The Iranian journalist revealed that Democrats along with Omar had started a smear campaign against her in response to the op-ed.
“So why is she coming after you?” Fox News host Martha MacCallum asked during an interview with Alinejad.
“I criticized Soleimani and I’ve said that many Iranians do not see him as a hero. They see him as a warmonger, as a war criminal,” she explained. “And that is why I got a lot of attacks by these Islamist lobbyists and she actually shared one of these defamatory articles against me.”
Alinejad even revealed that she had reached out to Omar multiple times, asking her to give her opinion on certain topics.
“One time, six women got arrested just because of protesting compulsory hijab. Another time, 29 women in Iran got arrested in one day because of protesting compulsory hijab, and I asked Omar to join us and show solidarity. She was silent,” Alinejad started. “And another time when my brother was taken hostage by the Revolutionary Guard, I reach out to her. Silence again. My mother was interrogated for three hours just because of my activities. Again, she was silent. 1500 people got killed, she was silent. Right now, 176 people got killed in a suspicious situation in Iran, Ukrainian airplane — she’s silent!”
“Are you suggesting that she doesn’t care about the freedom that you are fighting for?” MacCallum asked.
“What I want to say is this: She broke her silence when I criticized the Islamic Republic,” Alinejad said. “I criticized President Trump in Washington Post about travel bans, separated me from my son in the U.K. I haven’t seen my son for two years. Why didn’t she attack me when I criticized President Trump? … But as soon I criticized the criminals of the Islamic Republic and I called them warmongers and call them terrorists, called them religious dictatorship, then the Islamic lobbyists here they attack us.”

Omar’s response to the death of Soleimani is quite bizarre. On Thursday while speaking to reporter Julio Rosas, Omar attempted to explain why she supports sanctions on Israel but not the terrorist regime of Iran.
Omar has been a very vocal supporter for the anti-semitic Boycott, Divest and Sanction (BDS) movement which would target Israel. Meanwhile, the far-left representative is criticizing President Trump’s decision to sanction Iran after they stormed a US embassy.
“The BDS movement is a movement that is driven by the people,” Omar tried explaining. “The sanctions on Iran are sanctions that are being placed to create maximum pressure by a government.”
I asked Rep. Omar what her response is to those calling out her support for BDS against Israel while criticizing sanctions against Iran. She said it's "very different" bc BDS is by the people, while Iranian sanctions is by a gov to create maximum pressure.https://t.co/3TVNGFpWy1 pic.twitter.com/e2kC3qfllD— Julio Rosas (@Julio_Rosas11) January 9, 2020
Check out what the Daily Caller reported:
Omar has been a staunch critic of Israel, and is one of two members of congress to support the BDS movement, along with Democratic Michigan Rep. Rashida Tlaib.
In contrast to her criticism of Israel, Omar has defended the Iranian regime, which is the world’s leading state sponsor of terrorism. Omar attacked President Donald Trump last week over his decision to take out Iranian General Qasem Soleimani, calling it a “distraction.”
Omar also warned last week that Iran could threaten Trump properties throughout the world, and that the president could use the opportunity to “provoke war.”
Omar’s office did not respond to requests for comment for this article.
